Photo Album: Sunroom Filled with Odorous House Ants in Manchester, NJ
I went out on a service call for a homeowner in Manchester, NJ who was having an issue with ants in his home.
The Sunroom to the Exterior
I inspected and found a large number of odorous house ants crawling throughout the sunroom. I noticed that they were emerging from a small gap in the wall. I followed their trail and located the main nest in the mulch bed on the exterior of the sunroom.
Annoying Pests
Odorous house ants emit a rotten, coconut smell when they're crushed. They are attracted to moisture and tend to nest near moisture sources, such as leaky pipes or mulch beds.
Extermination of Odorous House Ants
I sealed up all gaps in the sunroom and the exterior of the home with a waterproof adhesive. Next, I treated the sunroom, the main nest, and the entire exterior of the home with a non-repellant residual. Afterwards, I applied a granular bait along the mulch bed.
Sharing is Caring
The ants will bring either of these products back to their nest to share with one another, including their queen. In a short amount of time, the colony is exterminated.
