When this homeowner in Lincroft, NJ discovered a large colony of ants foraging by her front door, she called Cowleys for help and I was sent out to inspect and treat the problem.
Outside and Inside
When I inspected the area I found pavement ants all throughout the front walkway. With the owners permission, I inspected the inside of her home and found more pavement ants throughout the foyer.
What Are Pavement Ants
Pavement ants are dark brown to black in color, about 1/8 of an inch in size, and received their name from making nests in or under cracks of pavements. They forage in trails for distances of up to 30 feet and are known to climb masonry walls to infest homes. They also are known to eat almost anything and can contaminate food.
Guess What I Found
Continuing my inspection, I began to pull the mulch back in the front of the home and found their nest!
Cowleys Treatment for Ants
I treated the mulch bed, the pavement ant trails, their nest, and the entire exterior of the home with a non-repellent residual. With the owners permission, I went inside and treated the foyer and the two adjacent rooms with the same application.
Pavement Ants Exterminated
The pavement ants will share this treatment among the entire nest through grooming or feeding one another. The application then rapidly spreads throughout the nest, ensuring extermination of the entire colony.
