Photo Album: Senior Living Facility Swarming with Carpenter Bees in Mantoloking, NJ
Not Just a Routine Service
As I was treating the perimeter of the building, I was drawn to these newly replaced wooden windows. As I came closer I realized that they were swarming with carpenter bees!
The Marks of Carpenter Bees
You can see the yellowish fecal stains next to a circular 1/2 inch hole in the wood. There was also a buildup of frass (sawdust) underneath the hole. Those are signs of active carpenter bees.
Do They Eat Wood?
Carpenter bees don't eat the wood like termites do, but instead bore into the wood to create galleries to lay their eggs.
Reuse Them Year After Year
If the infestation isn't immediately treated, not only will extensive damage occur, but the carpenter bees will reuse the same galleries year after year, causing even more property damage to the building.
Flush Them and Dust Them
I injected a residual dusting product into each gallery which will rapidly eliminate the carpenter bees and prevent future infestations.
