Photo Album: Fruit Flies Surrounding Bar Area in Asbury Park, NJ
One of our commercial clients in Asbury Park, NJ was having a major issue with drain flies in his restaurant.
Hovering Underneath the Bar
When inspecting, I noticed a large amount of fruit flies hovering around the bar area. I took a closer look and discovered a drain that was filled with discarded alcohol and sugary drinks.
Not Just Fruit
Fruit flies are not just attracted to fermenting fruits and vegetables, but also the fermenting sugars in alcoholic beverages. Any area that has a build up of discarded fruits or sweetened liquids is an attractant for fruit flies.
Bottles Are Protected
Fortunately, the owner wrapped every one of his bottles in saran wrap, which prevented the fruit flies from contaminating the inventory.
Told the Owner and Began Our Treatment
I informed the owner who immediately began cleaning the area. While he was doing that, I scrubbed out all the drains in the area and applied a liquid and bio foam application. These treatments will remove the breeding materials that the fruit flies are attracted to as well as eliminate the larvae inside the drains. Once the breeding areas are removed, the fruit flies are eliminated.
