Photo Album: 50 Foot Pavement Ant Trail in Elderly Community in Hightstown, NJ
While treating one of our commercial accounts, an elderly community in Hightstown, NJ, I came across a long trail of pavement ants.
Something Odd in the Hallway
While I was walking down the hallway, I noticed something interesting by the window in the hallway and decided to take a closer look.
It Was Pavement Ants
That's when I found a trail of pavement ants trailing by the window. Pavement ants get their name because they make nests in or under cracks of pavements. They are dark brown to blackish in color and are about 1/8 of an inch in size.
One Long Trail
I followed their trail from one end of the hallway to the other, over 50 feet! The pavements ants were entering and exiting holes at each end of the hallway and trailing along the top edge of the carpet that covers the baseboard.
Pavement Ant Extermination
I treated each point of entry as well as the entire hallway with a residual application and applied an ant gel bait in every crack and crevice in the hallway.
How The Treatments Work
Once the pavement ants come in contact with either of these treatments, they will carry it back to their nest and share it with the queen and the other ants in colony (by grooming or feeding one another). Soon, the entire colony is neutralized.
