Photo Album: Odorous House Ants Stinking Up Elderly Care Facility in Allenwood, NJ
While performing a routine treatment at one of our commercial accounts in Allenwood, NJ I came across odorous house ants.
In the Corner
As I was treating the activity room of the facility I spotted odorous house ants in the corner of the room. Odorous house ants get their name because they emit a rotten, coconut smell when crushed or startled. Also called sugar ants, they are about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch size and are brown or black in color.
Trailing Up to the Window
They were trailing from the floor all the way up to the blinds.
Cowleys Ant Treatment
I applied an aerosol residual directly onto the ants and, with the managers permission, treated all the cracks and crevices in the activity room and the two neighboring rooms with a liquid residual.
Share Their Own Doom
The odorous house ants will come in contact with either of these treatments, bring it back to their nest and share it among one another. This is known as the transfer effect.
Spreads Like a Virus
The applications spread throughout the colony like a virus, and in no time at all, the entire colony is eliminated.
