Photo Album: Old Pizzeria Infested with Rats in Freehold, NJ
A new business owner in Freehold, NJ was planning on fixing up an old restaurant and turning it into a new pizzeria. However, he first needed to remove the Norway rats infesting the building.
A Ton of Presents in the Basement
As I inspected the basement, I discovered a large amount of rat feces. How'd I know it was rats and not mice? Rat droppings are usually about 3/8 inch long,1/8 inch in diameter, and have rounded tips.
Brown Rat Peaking Out
As I continued inspecting, I noticed a small, chewed out hole in the brick. As I took a closer look, a brown rat stuck his head out!
The Diseases They Carry
Brown rats carry many nasty diseases, such as Leptospirosis, Salmonella, and Hantavirus. They can also inflict a great amount of structural damage to a property.
Along the Exterior Too
I inspected the exterior of the building and found several chewed out holes.
Our RTU's
I installed several Ready-to-Use rodent bait stations throughout the basement, the restaurant, and along the exterior.
Need of Repair
I informed the new owner that some repairs are needed in order to help prevent the rodents from entering the building. He immediately contacted a contractor to perform the repairs.
Scheduled a Follow-Up Visit
I scheduled several follow-up visits to monitor the rat infestation, apply any additional treatments, and replenish the bait as needed.
