Photo Album: Mice Squeezing Through the Cracks in Freehold, NJ
A new customer in Freehold, NJ called our office after finding mice droppings all over her new kitchen floor.
Not Hard to Spot
It wasn't hard to spot the mouse droppings as they were all over the kitchen floor. Mouse droppings can spread bacteria, contaminate food, and trigger allergic reactions. Once it dries and is disturbed, it can spread viruses, such as the Hantavirus. Extreme care is needed when cleaning them up.
Under the Stove
I noticed the droppings lead underneath the stove, so I carefully moved it and found a hole in the wall as well as a gap around the gas pipe.
Inside the Hole
Inside the hole in the wall were even more droppings and mice hair.
Gaps Around Pipes
It's important to properly seal all gaps around gas and utility pipes around your home. Although it seems insignificant to you, for mice it's a gateway into your home. Remember, they can enter through an opening the size of a pencil!
Vacuumed
I grabbed my HEPA vacuum and carefully removed all the droppings around the kitchen,
Stuffed, Sealed, Secured
I then filled the gap around the gas pipe with chew proof steel mesh, sealed the hole in the wall with stainless steel mesh, and sealed both of them in place with a premium, waterproof adhesive.
Now for the RTU's
Afterwards I installed several rodent bait stations throughout the kitchen, behind the stove, along the exterior of the home, and in the basement. I then scheduled a follow-up visit, to monitor the rodent bait stations, replenish the bait, and apply any additional treatment methods.
