Photo Album: Removing a Bald Faced Hornets Nest in New Brunswick, NJ
While treating the exterior of a building for one of our commercial accounts in New Brunswick, I discovered a large bald-faced hornet's nest on the soffit.
I Spy with My Eyes
While I was heading to my truck to grab some supplies, I noticed this nest attached to the soffit.
Took a Closer Look
I grabbed my ladder and safely examined the nest. Within minutes, several angry bald-faced hornets emerged from the nest.
Aggressive and Volatile
Bald-faced hornets are related to yellow jackets, are mostly white on their face, and are extremely territorial and aggressive. Anything that comes within close proximity to their nest, they'll attack it.
From a Safe Distance
I grabbed my extension pole and injected a foaming product directly into the nest that neutralizes the bald-faced hornets almost immediately. After waiting a little while, I scrapped off the nest, properly bagged it, cleaned the area, and applied a residual to prevent any future stinging insects from setting up another nest.
