Due to a mild winter, insects of all types have been emerging early this year, especially bees!
Japanese Maple Tree
While treating a customers residence for their Spring service, I came across a Japanese Maple Tree by their front door that had recently flowered.
Bees of All Kind
I took a closer look and discovered that the tree was full of honey bees
and bumble bees and they were all pollenating.
How They Pollinate
Bees have little hairs on their bodies that brush against the pollen as they fly in and out of flowers. They then rub their bodies with their hind legs to collect the pollen and store them in so called "pollen sacs". When the pollen sac or basket is full, it will fly back home to stock the nest with this carefully gathered food.
Honey Bees Are Viable
Since honey bees are vital to the environment, I'm not going to touch them. Instead, I'm going to contact a local bee keeper to handle this situation properly.
