Photo Album: Carpenter Ants Using the Restroom in Eatontown, NJ
One of our commercial clients in Eatontown, NJ recently contacted our office after finding ants crawling throughout his second-floor office building.
Carpenter Ants in the Bathroom & Office
As we began inspecting the second floor, we noticed a trail of carpenter ants in one of the offices leading all the way into the bathroom.
Where Did They Come From?
We noticed that the carpenter ants were emerging from the window. We inspected the exterior and found the main colony in a nearby tree. They were trailing all the up the tree and using a branch to enter the office building!
Told Management & Began Treating
We informed the property manager and suggested that the maintenance team trim the branches so the carpenter ants do not enter. As they went to work on that, we began treating. We applied a liquid non-repellant along the entire second floor, along the entire exterior of the building and then applied a granular bait along the tree.
How the Carpenter Ants Are Eliminated
When the carpenter ants come in contact with either of these treatments, they'll bring it back to their colony and then transfer among one another, either through grooming or feeding one another. Shortly after transferring, the colony is eliminated.
