Photo Album: Potential Cockroach Sanitation Issue in Asbury Park, NJ
It’s important to inspect inside of a trash compactor on a regular basis to see exactly what is going on inside the machine.
What I Found
When I opened the hatch, I discovered what would be a lifetime supply of food for cockroaches and other pests.
Here's How it Happens
As the compactor crushes the garbage it explodes and coats the inner walls. Weeks if not months of trash buildup had collected and attached itself to the inside of the machine.
Perfect for Cockroaches
This is the perfect environment for cockroaches. Why? All of the food debris and liquids as well as darkness provide the perfect harborage area for cockroaches to thrive.
Our Treatment
I treated the inside of the machine as well as the surrounding exterior area of the compactor with a liquid application. Should cockroaches or any pests come in contact with it, they'll be eliminated.
Great Short Term Solution
This is a great short term solution but the best course of action was letting the building maintenance director know that this needs to be cleaned on a regular basis.
Proper Sanitation is Essential
With the use of proper products to breakdown all of the decaying organic matter that's been building up, the pests food supply would be limited. The best way to prevent any type of pest problem, is proper sanitation.
