Photo Album: Bubble Bath Party for Ants in Freehold, NJ
After a long, hard day at work, this homeowner in Freehold, NJ took a bubble bath to relax and unwind. Unfortunately, she dripped water all over the floor and forgot to clean it up which lead to an infestation of odorous house ants.
Pretty Easy to Find
The homeowner mentioned that the infestation was in the bathroom, so I inspected and sure enough, found a MASSIVE infestation of odorous house ants.
Search for a Water Source
These smelly, black ants are only about 1/8 of an inch in size and emit a rotten, coconut smell when they are crushed. Much like all ants, odorous house ants enter homes in search for a water source. What better place to find a water source than a damp, moist bathroom!?
Coming up Through the Cracks
Since the ants were coming up through the cracks in the bathroom, that's where I treated. I used an aerosol flushing agent and applied it to all the cracks and crevices in the bathroom. This treatment eliminates the ants almost immediately.
Around the Home
I also applied a liquid residual around the entire exterior perimeter of the home. The ants, once they come in contact with it, will transfer it to the other ants in colony, including the queen. This ensures rapid elimination of the entire colony.
Advise from Cowleys
In order to prevent ant and other pest infestations, make sure to keep kitchens and bathrooms as dry as possible. Frequent cleaning and removal of any water on the floor or surface is a great way to prevent pests from entering your home.
