Ants Are Crawling
Minutes into my inspection I found the ants crawling in the living room. As I took a closer look I identified these ants as odorous house ants.
Why the Funny Name?
Odorous house ants received their name because once the ants are crushed or startled, they emit a rotten, coconut smell. They tend to invade homes after heavy rainfall.
Clever Little Pests
I followed their trail and noticed they were emerging out of a floor vent. I removed the cover, found a massive infestation, and determined that this was how they were entering the home.
Let's Evict Them
I treated the vent with a flushing agent that flushes the ants out, eliminates them almost immediately, and creates an impenetrable barrier. I also treated the exterior of the home with a liquid non-repellant.
Bye Bye Smelly Ants
When the ants come in contact with the treatment, they'll transfer it with the queen and the other ants in the colony. In no time at all, the colony is neutralized.
