While I was servicing a retirement community in Red Bank, NJ I came across one unit having some ant issues.
Ants on the Outside
While I was treating the exterior of the unit I found the ants trailing underneath the siding of the building. Closer inspection revealed that these were wood destroying carpenter ants and this area was a hotbed of activity!
Plan in Motion
I applied a granular bait and a liquid residual along the entire exterior of the unit. Then, as requested by the homeowner, I went inside and applied an ant gel bait in all the cracks and crevices.
The Transfer Effect
Once the carpenter ants come in contact with any of these treatments, they carry it back to their colony and transfer it to the reproductive queen and other ants through grooming or feeding one another.
Neutralized
Shortly after they transfer the treatments, they are eliminated.
