The management company of one of our commercial accounts, an apartment complex in Freehold, NJ, called to inform us that a tenant had discovered German cockroaches in her kitchen and they wanted us to inspect the apartment to see what was going on.
Check Under the Sink
When we arrived, we immediately inspected the cabinet area below the sink, because cockroaches harbor near areas close to a food or water source, and began removing stored items. As we were moving the items a handful of German cockroaches began scurrying out.
Cockroaches During the Day
Since German cockroaches are nocturnal, the fact that we saw a handful of them during the day, told us that there was a large infestation.
Health Risks of a Cockroach Infestatiomn
German cockroaches spread filth in homes and contaminate food. They also spread bacteria that causes food poisoning and allergens that cause asthma attacks.
Threw Away and Then Spray
We removed all of the items from under the sink and threw them in the garbage, with the tenants permission. By eliminating their hiding spots we were making things less desirable for them. Once we cleaned the area we performed a thorough crack and crevices treatment we a liquid growth regulator that affects the cockroaches reproduction rate.
Baited & Monitored
We then flushed the cockroaches out with an aerosol treatment which will chase them into the growth regulator, applied a gel bait in all the cracks and crevices, placed several glue monitor traps, and set-up a follow-up appointment. We advised the tenant and building manager of the work performed. They were happy and had smiles on their faces as we left the building.
