Photo Album: The Chaos of Cockroaches in Restaurants in Neptune, NJ
A new entrepreneur recently purchased an old restaurant building in Neptune, NJ and had plans to clean it up and open a new Italian deli. There was just one, tiny issue — it was infested with German cockroaches!
Welcoming Me In
Upon entering the kitchen, I spotted a few cockroaches crawling right past my feet, as if they are welcoming me into their home!
Why Was it So Bad?
Turns out the previous owner didn't practice proper sanitation. Sanitation measures are critical in controlling German cockroaches. Even the smallest crumbs can bring a dirty cockroach into a kitchen.
Cracks and Water
Continuing my inspection, I noticed a few cracks in the tile under the equipment that was holding moisture. German cockroaches prefer to live in warm, humid places close to moisture sources. I told the owner to remove everything that was nailed down so that I can begin treatment.
Time to Get Pesty
Once everything was removed, I applied a liquid residual that is a growth regulator. This will knock down the cockroaches to a manageable level.
We're Gellin
I then sprayed an oil based spray into all the harborage areas to chase the cockroaches into the growth regulator. Next, I placed gel bait in the harborage areas and set up glue traps to monitor the infestation level. I set up a follow up visit to monitor the infestation and apply any needed additional treatment.
