Photo Album: How to Prevent Pests from Infesting Your Restaurant
Here's some tips/advice to avoid pests infesting your restaurant, spoiling your inventory, and costing you money.
Don't Let the Dishes Pile Up
Make sure to discard all food debris BEFORE placing the dishes in the sink. Also, try to wash the dishes as quickly as possible as well as rinse and dispose of any debris inside the sink.
Condensation is a Concern
If you notice a water build up on the floor or sink, it's imperative that you clean it up as quickly as possible. Pests LOVE moisture and if there is an area where there is an abundant moisture buildup, you're practically inviting the pests into your business.
Clean Out the Drains
Make sure to sanitize the drains as often as possible. Drain and fruit flies like to breed in organic matter inside kitchen drains, which is exactly what happened here.
Seal The Food
Cover all lids to bottles and food containers appropriately. Preventative maintenance is a big part of keeping bugs and rodents at bay. Emptying wash buckets or containers can put a place at ease when it comes to pest control.
