Photo Album: Seniors Scream Bed Bugs in Colts Neck, NJ
We were sent out on a service call for a new commercial client, a manager of a senior living facility in Freehold, NJ to handle a bed bug infestation in one resident's room.
Right on the Chair
When we arrived, the manager directed us to the resident who reported the issue. After a very thorough inspection we found a bed bug on the sofa in the living room.
Quick Facts About Bed Bugs
Bed bugs are about the size of an apple seed and feed on the blood of humans while they sleep. They can be found behind baseboards, wallpaper, and in furniture crevices.
More Bed Bugs
Continuing our inspection, we found more bed bugs throughout the mattress.
They Came from Another State
The resident told me that he recently visited his family out of state and once he came back home, he noticed bite marks all over his body. Since bed bugs are expert world travelers, they probably hitchhiked a ride onto the resident and traveled back with him to his home.
Treating for Bed Bugs
We grabbed our HEPA vacuum and started vacuuming all the infested areas. This will remove the bed bugs and their eggs.
Next, we applied a liquid application underneath the box spring, the harborage areas of the mattress, and the voids and cracks along baseboards. Next, we placed a mattress encasement over the mattress.
Dust and Follow-Up
We also applied a dusting application to all the voids, cracks, and electrical outlets to drag the bed bugs out of hiding spots.
We will return on a follow-up visit to monitor the infestation . and apply any additional treatment to eliminate any surviving bed bugs.
