Photo Album: Raccoon Presents a Challenge in Oakhurst, NJ
We were sent out on a service call for a resident in Oakhurst, NJ who called our office after finding a raccoon in his attic as he was taking down his Thanksgiving decorations!
Not the Greatest Theives
Once we inspected the exterior of the home we found raccoon paw prints on the downspout. Raccoons may be experts at breaking into homes, but they are horrible at covering their tracks.
Here it Is
Here the raccoon climbed the quarter beam, ripped open the soffit and entered the attic.
Thinking Outside the Box
Sometimes raccoons will make an entry into a home that presents challenges for exclusion, as such the case here. After carefully examination and reviewing over our options, we decided to set-up a custom one-way device over the entry point.
A One-What?
A one-way device allows the raccoon to safely exit the home, but prevent it from getting back in. By temporarily adding hardware cloth to the entrance of the device, the raccoon will have no choice but to exist through the one-way.
More Devices
We also set up two placement traps nearby. Once the raccoon is safely removed from the home we will sanitize the attic, repair the soffit area and properly seal it up.
