A new residential customer in Tinton Falls, NJ was experiencing a problem with camel crickets in his basement. When we arrived and began inspecting, we discovered that the homeowner had more than just camel crickets in his basement.
Something Was Off
After inspecting the basement and finding camel crickets, we applied a liquid application that, in no time at all, will eliminate the crickets. As we were treating the basement we found mouse droppings in a particular area.
In the Insulation
We inspected around the sill plate area of the house to uncover any entryways for the mice. After noticing that the insulation in one area was damaged, we removed it.
Carefully Hidden
After removing the insulation we found the access point for the mice! It was quite large too.
Forgotten During Residing
We spoke to the homeowner who mention that he resided the house not to long ago and the crew did not cover a hole that was previously used for a vent. The only thing that was covering the hole on the outside was the siding that they just put up.
Just the Right Size
The hole was the perfect size for mice to enter the house. First, we strategically placed several Ready-To-Use (RTU) bait stations around the basement.
Made to Last
And then installed hardware cloth over the hole, both on the outside and inside of the home, to prevent any type of rodent from entering the home. We scheduled a follow-up inspection with the homeowner to monitor the mice and camel cricket activity and apply any additional treatments if needed. The homeowner told us that we will replace the insulation in the area now that it has been sealed up.
