Photo Album: Yellowjackets Hiding in Bushes in Holmdel, NJ
A customer in Holmdel, NJ called our office complaining that yellow jacket bees were emerging out of the bushes near her driveway.
Nesting in the Bushes
I equipped my protective bee suit and began inspecting the driveway. Within minutes I found the yellowjackets nest.
Not a Friendly Bunch
As I got closer the yellowjackets began to emerge out of their nest ready to defend it. Yellowjackets are known for their short tempers and will aggressively sting anything that comes close to their nest.
They Can Be Painful
Since yellowjackets don't lose their stinger, they can sting numerous times, and will do so even if you are just minding your own business. They usually bite your flesh to get a better grip as they jab their stinger into your skin.
Spray and Dust
Right away I treated it with an aerosol application that neutralizes the yellowjackets almost immediately. I then used a dusting application so that the returning yellow jackets will be treated also.
Here's What it Does
Once the yellowjackets come in contact with the dusting application and return to the area, they will spread the treatment through grooming one another. In a short amount of time, they will be eliminated for good. Once it was safe, I removed the nest and properly disposed of it.
