Photo Album: Fruit Flies Thrive in Clogged Drains in Asbury Park, NJ
A general manager of a business in Asbury Park, NJ contacted our office complaining of a large number of flies throughout his kitchen.
Circling Around the Garbage
Beginning our inspection we discovered a large number of fruit flies circling around a trash can in the kitchen. The trash can was filled with discard fruits and sweet liquids.
Old Produce Will Attract Them
Continuing into the storage area, we found a box of old tomatoes that was loaded with fruit flies. Fruit flies breed on organic matter such a decaying fruit and vegetables. These can be eliminated by simply discarding the infested food.
Dirty Dirty Drain
Then we inspected the sink room we found more dark-eyed fruit flies crawling in the sink drain.
They Love It
Dark-eyes fruit flies breed in wet, organic materials.
Cleaned Out
After removing all the gunk, I sanitized the drain by applying a liquid application that removes the bad bacteria from the drain. Eliminate the bad bacteria, and you eliminate the fruit flies breeding habitat.
Sanitized and Removed all the Debris
I then removed all the debris behind the counters and sink area and applied a bio-foam solution. This bio-foam solution effectively removes the organic build-up, odors, and scum in kitchen drains and other areas where these flies are breeding.
