Photo Album: Young Squirrel Gets Lost in Homeowners Chimney in Holmdel, NJ
A new customer in Holmdel, NJ contacted our office after spotting a baby squirrel roaming around his chimney.
It was Capped
Beginning our inspection we noticed that the chimney area was already capped off.
Claw Marks
We took a closer look and noticed that the chimney gap wasn't sealed properly and there existed a small gap at the bottom of the spark arrester. We also noticed squirrel scratch marks near the gap. This tiny gap was large enough for the squirrel to gain access.
Make Sure Nothings There
We removed the spark arrester and made sure there wasn't a squirrel or any animal inside. Aside from some debris (which we removed), there was nothing.
Finish Sealing
We sanitized the inside and properly sealed off the gap with 1/4 inch hardware cloth. This will prevent any future intrusions from nuisance wildlife.
