Photo Album: Bald-Faced Hornets Take Over Window & Screen in Old Bridge, NJ
Our commercial customers in Old Bridge, NJ called our office after discovering a live bald-faced hornet's nest by one of the windows of his building.
Found It
Beginning my inspection I located the nest in between one of the windows in the window screen.
Getting So Big...
The nest was getting so big that it pushed the top of the screen off its track.
Manager Was Terrified
The property manager was scared that the bald-faced hornets would start coming into the rooms. Bald-faced hornets are extremely territorial and anything that comes within close proximity to their nest, they will aggressively attack it.
Onto Treatment
First I treated the with the area with an aerosol application that knocks down the hornets on contact. Then I went inside, took the screen down, and made a hole. I then continued to treat inside the nest with the aerosol application that terminated the rest of the hornets.
Removed
I then removed the nest, disposed of it properly, and then cleaned the area in the window and the screen. I then treated the area where the nest was with a residual application to make sure that any returning hornets would come in contact with the treatment.
