Upon my inspection, I noticed several wasps hovering around a particular area on the soffit.
Yellowjacket Nest in Brick, NJ
As I took a closer look, I found a yellow jacket nest inside the soffit. Yellowjackets are stinging insects that have yellow marks on their head and body. Because of their coloring, people commonly mistake them for bees. All wasp will defend their nest, but yellow jackets are one of the most aggressive.

Once all the yellowjackets were neutralized, I removed the nest and properly disposed of it. The resident told me that he will hire a contractor to repair his soffit and roof so that no more invasive stinging insects can set up residence in his home.
