Pest Inspection
As I started inspecting the exterior of the building I noticed a few wasps flying around one of the windows. As I took a closer look, I discovered a yellow jacket nest near one of the windows.
The Stats on Yellowjackets
Yellowjackets are normally very slow to sting, but they are also very territorial. If the entrance to their nest is approached, they will become very aggressive. They can sting multiple times, and their stings can be very painful.
Nests in Multiple Areas
I found that the yellowjackets were flying in and out of holes and gaps around the windows. As I continued my inspection, I found several other nests in different locations across the building.
For Treatment
I applied an aerosol application directly into the entrance of each nest, which will eliminate the wasps almost immediately. After the bees activity slowed, I treated all the entryways with a dust application to help with the yellow jackets that are still outside of the building. In a short amount of time, all the yellowjackets will be neutralized. I informed the owner that all his windows need to be recaulked to prevent future intrusions. I was happy to hear that he already hired a contractor to remedy this issue.
