Photo Album: Community's Walkway Overrun with Bald-faced Hornets in Holmdel, NJ
I went out on service call for one of Cowleys commercial accounts, a community center in Holmdel, NJ.
In the Way
Customers were complaining about large size bee nest in a tree right above a walkway that is used a lot by the people that live in this community.
Safety Precaution
The community security had set up safety cones so no one could get hurt as they walk by. I examined the nest and identified it as a bald-faced hornets nest.
Attacked
I equipped my bee suit and as I set up to treat the nest all the bald-faced hornets come out. Not to say hi but to guard their nest. So I retreated to a safe area and waited until they calm down and returned back into their nest.
Taken Down
I treated the nest before they came back out again with an aerosol application the neutralizes the hornets on contact. I waited a few minutes then took the nest down and cleaned up the area.
