Photo Album: Standing Water Attracts Mosquitoes in Farmingdale, NJ
The property manager of a condominium complex in Farmingdale, NJ called Cowleys after a number of his employees kept complaining about mosquitoes tormenting them.
Here's the Source
Beginning my inspection, it was pretty easy to see why mosquitoes were such a huge issue. This huge retention pond of stagnant water on the side of the building was definitely the source.
Offer Some Suggestions
I decided to take the property owner on a brief tour to explain what we can do to help the situation. My first suggestion was to put some sort of fountain in the center of the retention pond to keep the water moving. If the water is moving it is very difficult for mosquitoes to breed.
Second Suggestion
My second suggestion was to treat the exterior perimeter of the retention pond with a residual product to keep all of the mosquitoes away and eliminate the ones that are already there breeding.
Get them in the Beginning Stage
Lastly, by putting a larvicide along the perimeter of the pond it will kill all of the mosquitoes in the larval stage.
Effective Pest Control
With a thorough application around the pond, the numbers will be drastically reduced. By attacking the mosquitoes on all three fronts we are ensuring that we are doing our due diligence to fix this before it becomes an even worse problem.
