Photo Album: Yellowjackets Sting Unsuspecting Homeowners in Middletown, NJ
I was sent to a homeowner in Middletown, NJ who was stung several times by yellow jackets while he leaving his house.
Yellowjackets in a Void
Approaching the corner of their home, I noticed a heavy flow of wasps entering and leaving a small gap in the foundation. Yellow jackets are social wasps and they can create nests in voids, behind/under siding, in-ground areas.
Working Together
The worker wasps gather paper-like material and continually build egg chambers. Yellowjackets are very aggressive and will defend their nests against anything that comes close to their home.
Time to Dust
Using a residual dust, I carefully treated the void area.
How the Dust Works
The wasps inside immediately come in contact with the dust, and the returning wasps will reluctantly enter the nest. Once they come in contact with the dust application and groom one another, they are eliminated.
