Photo Album: Bald-Faced Hornets Love To Play Tennis in Howell, NJ
I was sent out on a service call for one of Cowley’s commercial accounts, an apartment complex in Howell, NJ. The property manager mentioned that a number of residents were complaining of getting stung by hornets near the tennis court.
Not Happy to See Me
When I arrived I was not only greeted by happy tenants and homeowners but a nest of angry bald-faced hornets in a tree right by the tennis court. I guess they weren't too happy to see me.
Big Nest, Bigger Colony
The nest was large, bigger than a basketball, which means that there's a large number of angry hornets inside. The colony is contained inside the nest constructed of paper-like material made from chewed wood fibers mixed with saliva.
Full Neutralization Mode
Using my extendable pole, so I won't get stung while treating, I applied an aerosol flushing agent directly into the opening of the nest.
Quick Elimination
Once the bald-faced hornets come in contact with the application, they are quickly eliminated.
Safe to Play Again
Once all the hornet's were gone, I removed the branch and properly disposed of the nest. Now the residents can enjoy playing tennis without worrying about getting stung by hornets.
