Photo Album: How to Treat Basketball Sized Bald-Faced Hornet's Nest in Eatontown, NJ
We were recently sent out on a service call for a homeowner in Eatontown, NJ who noticed a basketball-sized hornet's nest hanging from a pine tree in their yard. When inspected, we identified them as bald-faced hornets.
A Lot of Chambers
Bald-faced hornets are very aggressive and can build their nests very quickly. The bigger they are, the more layers of egg chambers will be present.
Tread Carefully
When approaching a nest, you will notice four to five hornets guarding it. They will aggressively defend their nests. Vibrations from lawn mowers, or just walking through their flight plan can set them off.
Carefully Treat the Nest
Carefully approaching the nest, we treated the opening with a foaming, residual application that quickly fills the nest cavity.
Rapid Elimination
This application immediately eliminates the bald-faced hornets.
Removed the Neutralized Colony
Now that bald-faced hornets are neutralized we removed their nest and properly disposed of it.
