Photo Album: Old Retaining Wall Invites Carpenter Ants in Bridgewater, NJ
I was responding to a service call for a homeowner in Bridgewater, NJ who noticed large black ants by their driveway. Once I arrived and began inspecting the area, I identified these ants as carpenter ants.
Weathered Ties
There was a small retaining wall built with four wood railroad ties for support. Once I arrived, I noticed the railroad ties were weathered and worn.
Perfect for Carpenter Ants
These moisture ridden wood ties are the perfect home for carpenter ants. Carpenter ants prefer moist, decaying wood to excavate their galleries.
Flush Them Out
Using a flushing agent, I treated between the gaps and cracks in the wood and hit a nest.
Direct Contact
Once the carpenter ants started flowing out of the nest, I applied a non residual application directly to the ants, along the retaining wall, and the entire exterior of the home. In a few weeks, the ants are no more!
