Photo Album: Digger Bees Invade Senior Community in Monroe Township, NJ
One of Cowleys commercial accounts, a senior community in Monroe Township, NJ, called complaining of numerous pencil sized holes along the sidewalk by the bocce ball courts. After arriving and examining the holes, I determined that the community had a digger bee problem.
Multiple Digger Bees Mounds
As soon as I examined these dirt mounds, I was able to identify them as digger bee holes.
What are Digger Bees
Digger bees are 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch solitary, non-social wasps. The females dig these half-inch to one inch deep burrows to nest and raise young. The bees pile earth around the sides of the hole.
Wreak Havoc on a Lawn
Although digger bees aren't aggressive, they can wreak havoc on a homeowners lawn.
For Treatment...
For treatment, we soaked each digger bee mound with a liquid application. Once the digger bees come in contact with this product, they are eliminated.
