Photo Album: Solar Panels Provide Safe Space for Birds in Colts Neck, NJ
We recently went out on a service call for a homeowner in Colts Neck, NJ who was having problems with pigeons and other birds nesting and roosting underneath the solar panels on his roof.
Birds Love Solar Panels
As we began our inspection we found several empty birds nest underneath the solar panels. Birds love the shelter provided underneath solar panels.
Dangers of Birds Underneath the Panels
Aside from various parasites living in the debris birds use to build their nests, birds will cause severe damage to the wiring under the solar panels, creating system failures. Additionally, bird droppings on the solar panels and roof will roll down into the gutters and creates blockages.
Sanitize and Set-Up Exclusion Barrier
First, we safely removed all the birds nests and sanitized the area. Next, in order to exclude these pesky birds from getting under the solar panels, we installed an exclusion barrier made of a light metal material with a plastic coating to prevent rust.
Keep Birds Out
The exclusion barrier will prevent birds and other nuisance wildlife from gaining access under the panels.
