A new residential client in Eatontown, NJ contacted Cowleys after finding a hornet's nest on the soffit by her bedroom window. While inspecting the nest I found a couple of bald-faced hornets going in and out of the tube sticking out of the nest.
Found the Nest
I began inspecting the exterior of the home and found the bald-faced hornet's nest.
What are Bald-Faced Hornets?
Bald-faced hornets are large, black insects about 7/8 of an inch long with white to cream-colored markings on the front of the head and at the end of the abdomen. They are extremely aggressive and will sting anything that comes within 3 feet of their nest.
In it's Early Development Stages
Fortunately, the nest was new and in its early development stages. As a new nest, the amount of bald-faced hornets was limited. Their nests can grow as large as a basketball and can contain between 100 and 400 members.
Immediate Knockdown
I applied a foaming aerosol application directly to the nest. This application not only eliminates the bald-faced hornets on contact but also provides a residual activity to help eliminate the nest and prevent future infestations.
