Photo Album: Huge Termite Infestation in Wall Township, NJ
Discovering a single termite in your home is alarming, but discovering an entire colony of termites is terrifying! Unfortunately, for this homeowner in Wall Township, NJ that is exactly what he found in his garage.
Subterranean Termites
After a thorough inspection of the entire property, I found subterranean termites in the garage. This termite species lives in underground colonies and build distinctive "mud tubes" to gain access to food sources and to protect themselves from open air.
Drilling in the Garage
Since termites live beneath the soil and enter your home below the ground level of the dirt, I'm going to drill into the concrete and then inject a liquid application into the ground so that the termites will come into contact with the product.
Treating the Soil
After the drilling, I injected a liquid application into the concrete. This application binds to the treated soil and creates a protective zone that termites cannot detect. Termites will either ingest the application or come in contact with it as they go about their normal routines.
Install Sentricon
After treating the garage, I installed a Sentricon baiting system around the entire exterior foundation approximately 10 to 20 feet apart from one another.
What does Sentricon Do
When termites come into contact with the Sentricon bait system, they eat the cellulose material and ingest an insect growth inhibitor. The termites go on to share this "food" with their colony members that also ingest the bait. The growth inhibitor then takes over and prevents the termites from being able to molt. This two-part treatment will eradicate all the termites and prevent any future termite infestations for years to come.
