Photo Album: Massive Bed Bug Infestation in Howell, NJ

A homeowner in Howell, NJ contacted Cowleys after noticing small, brownish insects in his bed and bite marks all over his body. We had a suspicion that it was bed bugs and needed to conduct a thorough inspection of his home. Bed bugs get their name from their habit of feeding on humans while they sleep in their beds. They are found in virtually every place people tend to gather, such as hotels, schools, doctors offices, and even public transportation. Once we arrived we equipped our personal protective equipment and began our inspection of the home. What we found during our inspection was shocking.

Massive Bed Bug Infestation

Within minutes of our inspection, we found a massive amount of bed bugs in the seams of the couch.

Where do Bed Bugs Like to Hide

Bed Bugs like to hide in small cracks and crevices close to a human environment. They can be found behind baseboards, wallpaper, upholstery, and in furniture crevices.

Even in the Speakers

We even found a large number of bed bugs in the speakers! Bed bugs are known to survive in temporary or alternative habitats, such as speakers, car upholstery, and subways.

On the Homeowners Jacket

As we were reporting our findings to the homeowner, we noticed "little brown stains" all over his jacket hanging on the coat rack. We took a closer look and found bed bug fecal matter and live bed bugs in the crevice of the jacket.

Time to Vaccuum and Steam

We thoroughly vacuumed the entire home with a HEPA vacuum to suck up all the live bed bugs and their eggs. Afterwards we used a commercial grade steamer on all the surfaces to eliminate the bed bugs on contact.

Then Apply the Liquid Application

Next, we applied a liquid application on the sofa, jacket, the bed and along all the cracks, crevices, and baseboards in the home. Once a bed bug comes in contact with this application, they are eliminated. Finally, we placed a mattress encasement cover on all the beds in the home. Although this was a massive infestation, our extensive treatment methods will eliminate all the bed bugs in the home.
