Photo Album: Cockroach clean out party in Manalapan, NJ
Working as a pest control technician is not a 9-to-5 job. Especially with our commercial clients, we need to work around their operations and perform any necessary treatments at those times that are convenient for the business — not for us! For example, with busy commercial kitchens, we must do our treatments during off-hours so as to not interrupt or get in the way of the busy kitchen staff.
Ready for the cockroach elimination party.
One of two Cowleys techs working as a pest control team performing a roach clean-out on a Sunday night for a restaurant in Manalapan, NJ, arriving at the location at 10:30 in the evening to get started. The kitchen was prepped and ready for treatment to get rid of a stubborn German cockroach infestation.
Conducting a thorough clean out.
Killing just the ones you see does little to resolve an active roach infestation. This was a large facility. We treated two kitchens, tow bars, and a coffee prep station. During our treatment, we observed sporadic roach activity in the main kitchen around the center prep station and the oven and fryer area. We also treated the dishwashing machine. Roaches are attracted to heat and moisture and roach infestations of dishwashing equipment is quite common.
Aww, too bad for this roach!
These particular roaches are small, not much larger than a nickel, and they are fast little buggers. Their size and behavior makes it easy for them to start laying eggs, and with their reproductive rates it does not take long for them to overrun a kitchen. These persistent, resilient insects are most active at night.
Treating everywhere.
The product is an insect growth regulator (IGR) the effectively breaks the insect life cycle by sterilizing them and stopping their ability to reproduce. Next, we treated around the kitchen equipment and deep into the cracks and crevices where roaches harbor with a fine mist fogging treatment. Unfortunately, with roaches, for every one you see scamping around, there are likely dozens more that are hiding.
Treating under all the equipment.
We didn't waste any time getting the servicing started. We first treated the baseboards and underneath all of the kitchen equipment and appliances, and using a fan spray applied a formulation approved for use in sensitive application sites such as schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and commercial kitchens
