Photo Album: Ants Control & Extermination in Spring Lake, NJ home
Recently, I finished up a job in Spring Lake, NJ, for a homeowner who was having an ongoing, persistent problem with odorous house ants in and around her home. These ants are one of the more common home-infesting ants that we regularly deal with. They are commonly called “odorous” ants because, if crushed, they release a smelly odor that reminds many of rotten coconuts. The homeowner told me that she has been seeing the ants for at least a year.
Drilling for the treatment.
All of these applications will work together for the foraging ants to carry the product back to the nest. Ideally, it would have been better if we were contacted sooner by the homeowner instead of allowing the infestation to grow for a year, but on these calls, we must deal with what we are given, not what we would like the problem to be!
Treating the exterior
I also treated the entire exterior perimeter of the home with extra focus under the deck.
Treating the interior
For the interior treatment, I applied product to all of the first floor baseboards.
Treating under the door
The important lesson here is that ant infestations do not self-resolve and if it is apparent that there is a nest in or nearby the home based on numerous ant sightings, a pest control service should be called in immediately to deal with the infestation in its early stages.
Treating wall voids
Given that this was an entrenched infestation, i decided that the best treatment approach would be to focus on the wall voids.I injected product into the voids that were adjacent to the deck and on each side of the fireplace where I believed the ants were entering the home.
