Photo Album: Birds Nesting Under Sea Girt, NJ Windowsill.
A homeowner in Sea Girt, NJ, was having a problem with birds nesting under one of her window sills. While we all love birds, they can become a nuisance once they start to nest and roost in and around our homes. They create a mess with their toxic droppings, often ruin insulation, and can clog gutters. Also, like other wildlife, birds often carry ticks, mites, and dangerous parasites.
Hardy siding
To remove the birds that had taken up residence, I carefully removed the existing Hardie board siding without damaging any pieces.
Behind the siding
First step, take off the siding.
Goodbye Plywood
We had to cut open the plywood.
In Order to Remove Nest
Cut out a square foot piece of plywood to remove the nest the birds had built behind the siding.
The Nest
Close up of the bird nest.
Birds nest
We found the nest.
Inspecting the Area
Area opened up.
Treating the Area for Bird Mites
I thoroughly sprayed the area to kill off any bird mites, and replaced the contaminated insulation with spray foam.
Repairing the Opening
Here we insulated the area.
Back to Original Condition
We work very hard to leave no trace behind.
