Photo Album: Commercial grade dehumidifier installed in Matawan, NJ
New dehumidifier
This Matawan, NJ, homeowner was using a store-bought dehumidifier, and according to him, the entire set-up was nothing but trouble. Because of the high humidity levels, he was constantly having to empty heavy buckets of water and keep a constant eye on them for fear of overflowing. Also, because these dehumidifiers were constantly running, they did not last long - they just aren't built for heavy-duty continuous use. The homeowner told us that he was buying a new dehumidifier almost every year as a replacement. Finally, he decided that enough was enough, and contacted Cowleys. Cowleys has a specialized division that crew handles damp and wet basement and crawl space problems, as well as treating mold, which is a common byproduct of chronically high humidity/moisture levels in enclosed spaces.
Condensate line
A two-person crew came out to the residence to install a commercial-grade Sanidry Sedona dehumidifier. The homeowner was concerned that a heavy-duty machine would cost more to run, but we told him that was not the case. These machines are ENERGY STAR certified, and remove more water from the air for the same electricity costs as standard dehumidifiers. And by more water, we are talking about a lot more water - these machines have the capacity to remove over 95 pints of water from the air daily!
Old dehumidifier
Also, they move over 300 cubic feet of dry air per minute, which gets rid of musty odors and keeps furnishings, walls, and floors nice and dry. By extracting so much moisture from the air, these dehumidifiers are able to keep indoor relative humidity below 55%, so mold is unable to take hold. There is no better long-term solution to mold growth than installing a quality dehumidification system. They are also an air filtration system, producing clean, dry air circulating throughout your home by filtering out mold spores, dust, mite droppings, and other microscopic pollutants. For those occupants of a home who are sensitive to these airborne particles, these machines work wonders.
Sump pump
For this homeowner, however, the best feature of the Sedona Sanidry was that it is maintenance free and drains automatically. He would no longer have to lug around heavy buckets of water and worry about water overflow if he did not get to the buckets in time. To expel the water out of the home, these dehumidifiers have a built-in condensate pump that pushes the collected water out through a condensate line. For this particular installation, we ran the condensate line to an existing sump pump through the drop ceiling.
