Bed Bugs in South Plainfield

Challenge

While I was performing my regular monthly service to a commercial senior residence, one of the residents pulled me aside. She mentioned that she had noticed small, reddish marks on her arms and neck areas. Her granddaughter, who sometimes sleeps over. also had the same markings on her back.

Solution

I performed a thorough inspection of the resident’s apartment. The resident had a small kids bed in the living room. After carefully inspecting the mattress, I examined the bed frame. I found one adult bedbug,  fully engorged from a blood meal on the frame. While inspecting the queen size bed in the bedroom, I found a heavy infestation between the mattress and boxspring.

I quickly grabbed my Hepa-Vac and carefully vacuumed all the live bedbugs up and all the cracks and crevices where bedbugs hide. I applied a residual insecticide to all Harborage areas thru out the apartment. I set up a two week follow up(which is needed to allow the chemical to kill the bedbugs that were not visible at the initial treatment) and thanked her for bringing it to my attention.
