Yellow Jackets Live in the Attic and Come Through the Ceiling in Milltown, NJ

Challenge

We were sent out on a service call for a new customer in Milltown, NJ to treat for yellow jackets. Apparently the yellow jackets were emerging from the living room ceiling and attacking the owner and her dog! As a temporary solution she grabbed a piece of plastic and painters tape and closed off the opening.

After equipping our protective bee suits we decided to inspect the attic, since that was right above the living room. Sure enough, tucked away underneath a piece of fiberglass insulation, was an active yellow jackets nest the size of a basketball. 

Solution

We treated the nest with a knockdown dusting and a knockdown aerosol product. Both of these treatments will rapidly neutralize the yellow jackets. After some time had passed we removed the nest, cleaned the area, and disposed of the yellow jackets nest. The owner mentioned that her husband will patch up the hole in the living room ceiling once we leave.
