We were sent out to a restaurant in Neshanic Station, NJ, to handle a fly issue. When we arrived, we found hundreds of fruit flies throughout the kitchen! What caused this massive infestation? Well, there were several food storage pans that were left out and uncovered, the sink station was full of dirty dishes, and there was an abundance of gunk in almost all the floor drains! Fruit flies are attracted to ripened fruits and vegetables in the kitchen or wherever food is allowed to rot and ferment. Although these pests can't bite or transmit any diseases, they can carry around bacteria from one place to another and contaminate food. Maintaining proper sanitation in your business is a great way to prevent pests, like fruit flies, from infesting your building. However, a poor sanitation program always increases the risk of major and expensive pest issues. After mentioning these issues, the owner and his staff immediately started cleaning the infestation areas as well as disposed of all contaminated food. We applied a liquid application in all the floor drains and then scrubbed them out with our heavy-duty scrubbing brush. Next, we applied a bio-foam solution that removes the organic build-up, odors, and scum in the drains. Lastly, we treated the infestation areas with a fly bait to control the adult fruit flies and installed several fruit fly traps. The attractant in the traps draws the fruit flies close and the bait inside the traps exterminates them within moments of contact. In a short amount of time, the fruit flies will be neutralized.Dirty Kitchen Gets Fruit Flies in Neshanic Station, NJ
