When this homeowner in Raritan, NJ came home from work late one evening, he noticed a raccoon climbing up his downspout and entering his home! He immediately called Little Rascals for help. As we inspected the roof, we found a large hole by the gutter. Turns out the raccoon had ripped apart the shingles by the gutter to gain access to the attic! We installed a positive set over the access point. This is comprised of a nose cone, which will guide the raccoons into a two-gaited, heavy-duty device to it. This is called a positive set, because we are positive that the raccoon will have no other way to exit except through our device! Since the raccoon was using the downspout to climb onto the roof, we installed several baited devices nearby. We also put dirt on to bottom of the baited devices to camouflage them and give them a more "natural" feel. Once we retrieve the raccoon, we'll safely relocate it to a new, humane environment, disinfect the attic, and install sturdy metal flashing over the access point.
