A Home Protection Plan client of ours in Middlesex, NJ called our Little Rascals Nuisance Wildlife Division after spotting a raccoon in his attic! Once we arrived and started inspecting the property, we found raccoon paw prints going up the downspout. We followed them to a hole in the roof. Turns out the raccoon had ripped apart a portion of the roof by the gutter to gain access into the attic. As we continued inspecting the roof, we found more raccoon paw prints leading to the attic fan. The raccoon was also entering the attic via the attic fan. First, we cleaned up the area and installed a portion of Pest-Blok over the access point on the roof. Pest-Blok undergoes a silicone-protected polyester coating process that makes it last longer and guards the home against raccoons and all nuisance wildlife. Next, we installed a portion of metal flashing over that area. Afterward, we installed a temporary attic fan cover over the attic fan and attached a two-gaited, heavy-duty device to it. The raccoon will have no other way to exit the area, except through our device, which will safely retrieve the raccoon. We also placed several baited traps nearby. Once we safely retrieve the raccoon, we will relocate it to a new humane environment, disinfect the attic area, and install a sturdy attic fan cover over the attic fan. The attic fan cover is made of heavy-duty 18 Gauge expanded Galvannealed steel mesh and will prevent raccoons, as well as all nuisance wildlife, from gaining access into the home.Multiple Entries for Raccoons in Middlesex, NJ
