Carpenter Bees Hiding Under the Deck in Princeton Junction, NJ

Challenge

During a routine treatment service for a new Home Protection Plan customer in Princeton Junction, NJ, we found something interesting underneath the deck in the backyard - carpenter bees! 

Carpenter bees are solitary, wood-destroying pests, and just like carpenter ants, carpenter bees can cause significant property damage.  The female bees drill circular ½-inch diameter holes into fascia boards, decks, and other wooden structures. Carpenter bees look similar to bumblebees in appearance, but they lack yellow markings on their abdomens. Instead, carpenter bee abdomens are smooth and shiny, whereas bumblebees’ have hairy, yellow abdomens.

Solution

For treatment, we're going to apply a residual dusting product into each gallery. This treatment rapidly exterminates the carpenter bees and leaves behind a residual that will eliminate any eggs inside their gallery as well as any returning carpenter bees.
