As this new homeowner in Milltown, NJ was cleaning out her garage (in preparation for Spring) she noticed several ant hills near the garage door. She immediately stopped cleaning and called Cowleys for help. As we inspected the area and discovered the ant hills by the garage door, we took a closer look at them and identified these pests as pavement ants. Pavement ants are about 1/8 of an inch long and are dark brown to black in color. They received their name because they typically nest under sidewalks and driveways and pile dirt, removed from their nest, in a mound on top of the pavement. We treated the ant hills, as well as the entire interior and exterior of the garage & home, with a liquid residual application. Afterward, we treated the grassy areas of the property with a granular bait. Once the worker ants come in contact with either of these products, they will return to their nest and transfer these treatments throughout their colony. Shortly after, the pavement ant colony is exterminated. Pavement Ants Nesting in the Garage in Milltown, NJ
