A new customer in Monmouth Junction, NJ, called our office after hearing "running" noises in his attic during the day. Once we arrived, we inspected the roof area and noticed a chewed-out hole above the gutters. As we took a closer look, we found squirrel hair stuck in the opening as well as squirrel prints around the gutter area. Completing our inspection, we concluded that the homeowner had a squirrel infestation and this was how the squirrels were able to enter the attic area. We temporarily enclosed the area off with hardware cloth and installed a one-way device over the main access point. A one-way device is designed to allow the squirrels to safely leave the attic, but prevent them from getting back in. We also placed several baited devices nearby. Once we safely remove all the squirrels from the home, we will relocate them to a new, humane environment, disinfect the attic area, and install metal flashing over the access point to prevent reinfestation.
